The Pitcairn Islands miniature for Indipex 2011,Delhi

To commemorate the attendance of the Pitcairn Islands Philatelic Bureau at the International Stamp Exhibition in Delhi in February (Indipex 2011), a miniature sheet has been produced featuring important images from both locations. India is represented by the national flower Lotus Nelumbo nucipera gaertn and the internationally known Taj Mahal, while Pitcairn is represented by the endangered Yellow fautu Abutilon pitcairnense. Both flowers have been brought together in this colourful miniature sheet.

Brihadeeswarar Temple

This temple is one of India's most prized architectural sites. The temple stands amidst fortified walls that were probably added in the 16th century. The 'Vimana' - or the temple tower - is 216 ft (66 m) high and is among the tallest of its kind in the world. The Kalash or 'Chikharam' (apex or the bulbous structure on the top) of the temple is not carved out of a single stone as widely believed. There is a big statue of Nandi (sacred bull), carved out of a single rock, at the entrance measuring about 16 feet long and 13 feet high[6]. The entire temple structure is made out of hard granite stones, a material sparsely available currently in Thanjavur area where the temple is located.Built in 1010 AD by Raja Raja Chola in Thanjavur, Brahadishwara Temple also popularly known as the ‘Big Temple’ has turned 1000 years

The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Great Living Chola Temples".

Taiwan blue magpie is a member of the Corvidae family and a protected species endemic to Taiwan. Its head and breast are black. The rest of its body is blue. Its tail feathers are exceptionally long. The bird’s gorgeous plumage makes it a frequent target of hunters. Overdevelopment and pollution pose an even more serious threat. To call attention to the importance of ecological conservation, this Post specially commissioned Professor Yuan Hsiao-wei at National Taiwan University to plan a set of four stamps and a souvenir sheet on the Taiwan blue magpie.

Disney’s “Finding Nemo” is an animated movie shown in about 120 countries around the world and won an Oscar for best animated feature. The film is about a single clownfish father and his son Nemo. One day, Nemo is captured and then put into a fish tank. To find his beloved son, the anxious father embarks on a difficult and dangerous journey. On his way, he confronts all kinds of crises, but he is eventually reunited with his son thanks to the help of enthusiastic ocean friends. An illustration of the world under the sea serves as the background for one of the souvenir sheets, and a photo of an underwater landscape serves as the background for the other. The stamps feature Nemo (a clownfish and star of the film), Tad (a long-nosed butterflyfish), Sheldon (a little seahorse), Squirt (a little green sea turtle), Peach (a starfish), Bubbles (a yellow tang), a school of sea turtles, Dory (a blue tang), and Pearl (a flapjack octopus). These small squares of stamps spread joy and happiness with the colorful undersea world they capture.

To welcome the year of the Rabbit, Chunghwa Post is issuing a set of two New Year’s Greeting Postage Stamps (Issue of 2010) and a souvenir sheet. The designs find inspiration in modern art styles, such as action painting and pop art. The motif rabbits are depicted using black silhouettes that are adorned with orange and purple paint splatters, which create lively compositions. The commemorative stamp features the Neptune fountain with spring water and a part of the old Renaissance park which is still the optimal representative of the present-day picture of Trsteno. Trsteno - the Renaissance garden, later arboretum, was planted at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century around the summer villa of the well known Ragusan noble family Gučetić (Gozze) at the time of the flourishing of the Ragusan Republic. The additional reason for the placement of the garden and the villa was the water spring; the name Trsteno is derived from trska, the Croatian name for the reed growing near the water.

The rhododendron – the name is derived from the Greek word meaning “rose or red tree” - has blooms that can be found in magenta, purple, pink and white shades, often infused with blotted speckles and splashes of colour. The rhododendron is a genus of flowering plants with more than 700 species (of which only eight are native to Canada), including more than 300 which are believed to have medicinal value when used in treating gouty rheumatic conditions. They can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, but are mostly seen in China and the Himalayas. It is also the national flower of Nepal.
